The Love of Christ is the subject of much talk and teaching, particularly in terms of His death and resurrection for each person. But, a large part of Christ's life was devoted to showing that Love by mentoring, or making disciples. This is a large part of the reason that unlearned fisherman were able to become world-changing Apostles. They weren't born with this ability. They gained this by "being with Jesus". Then, at the end of his life, He gave the command to his followers to do the same thing. We call this the Great Commission. Christ gave much instruction to his 12 followers about what to do and not do, what the kingdom is like, and how we can be a part of it. But not only did he tell what to do, but he demonstrated how to do it. He gave us a real life example of what it means to make disciples. By what we know of his relationship with his 12 followers, we have an example of how to love others. Christ loved his disciples enough to equip them for the assignments he gave them. This example should be followed both on a church level by making it a priority to equip people, and at a personal level by doing it with one-another. So, how is His love illustrated in His Great Commission? What does his Love look like in the practice of making disciples? Christ loved his disciples enough to equip them for the assignments he gave them. This example should be followed both on a church level by making it a priority to equip people to do this, and at a personal level by doing it with one-another. In this topic, Dave Snyder illustrates Christ’s "mentoring program.” and focus how He taught, encouraged, rebuked, lived with, hurt with, and died for his disciples. He will help us know how to implement these things in our lives today.
